After a speedy dumper crashed three motorcyclists to death in the Korangi area on Saturday, the Sindh government decided to ban entry of dumpers in the city during daytime. A private TV channel reported.
As per the details, the decision was taken in an emergency meeting held under the chair of the Chief Secretary regarding traffic accidents. According to the decision, dumpers will be allowed to enter the city from 11 pm to 6 am, while their entry will be completely banned during the daytime.
As per sources, on the instructions of the Chief Minister Sindh, Chief Secretary Syed Asif Haider Shah had called an emergency meeting on traffic accidents in Karachi. During the meeting , Shah ordered the Solid Waste Management Board to shift operations to the night shift within 3 months. The meeting decided to conduct physical verification of all large vehicles and drivers.
It was also decided that all vehicles should have a QR code certificate from the Transport Department, the Chief Secretary directed the inspection of all tankers of the Water Board within a month.
The Chief Secretary Sindh also directed motorcyclists to wear helmets and traffic police to increase enforcement. In the meeting, he said that strict measures have become necessary to address the increasing number of accidents in the city.
Shah directed that an FIR be registered along with the challan for negligence, saying that the accidents were due to the non-implementation of the heavy traffic law.
