Google has released the list of the most searched topics in Pakistan for 2025, highlighting trends across seven different categories.
According to Google, these rankings were compiled based on the most trending searches from billions of queries throughout the year.
The categories include cricket, athletes, local news, technology, recipes, how-to guides, and TV dramas.
Cricket:
In the cricket category, the most searched query was “Pakistan vs South Africa.”
The top ten searches also included Pakistan Super League, Asia Cup, Pakistan vs India, Pakistan vs New Zealand, India vs England, Pakistan vs West Indies, India vs Australia, ICC Champions Trophy, and Pakistan vs UAE.
Athletes:
The most searched athlete was Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma, followed by Hassan Nawaz, Irfan Khan Niazi, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Abbas, Saeem Ayub, Yasir Khan, Kasht Ali, Saif Hasan, and Abdul Samad.
Local news:
For local news, “Punjab Sosho Economic Registry” topped the searches. Other highly searched topics were Karachi floods, Iran, Asaan Business Card, flooding in the Chenab River, Federal Board matric exam results, Karachi Board matric exam results, Prime Minister Laptop Scheme, gold prices in Pakistan, and 9th-grade election dates.
Technology:
In technology, “Google Gemini” emerged as the most searched topic, followed by Tamasha, DeepSeek, MyCo, On4t, Google AI Studio, Claude, iPhone 17, Grok, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Recipes:
Sandwich recipes were the most searched in the recipes category. Other popular searches included Food Fusion recipes, Quinoa recipes, Dough recipes, desserts, mutton dishes, easy recipes, tofu recipes, soups, and beef recipes.
How-to guides:
The top search in the “how-to” category was how to check Karachi e-Challan. Other frequently searched topics were: unsending messages on Instagram, car insurance, investing in the crypto market, investing in the stock market, applying for a credit card, creating Ghibli-style photos, finding the best lawyer, printing from a phone via an app, and uploading a blog.
TV Dramas:
Among dramas, Geo TV’s “Sher” ranked first, followed by other popular Geo TV dramas, including “Aas Paas” in third place and “Dine” in ninth place.
