KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan soared on Tuesday, with the 24-karat tola rate jumping by Rs 4,100 to reach Rs 492,462, according to figures released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association.

The 10-gram 24-karat gold price rose by Rs 3,515, settling at Rs 422,206, while 22-karat gold stood at Rs 387,036 after a gain of Rs 3,222.

Silver also witnessed a notable upswing, with the 24-karat tola price climbing Rs 395 to Rs 8,908, and 10 grams advancing Rs 339 to Rs 7,637.

On the international market, gold traded at $4,701 per ounce, up $41, while silver surged to $84.24 per ounce, marking a daily increase of nearly $4.

Industry experts attribute the sharp rise to currency fluctuations and heightened global demand, with local traders noting that seasonal wedding-related buying is further amplifying pressure on domestic markets.

The association emphasized that rates are calculated on the basis of interbank exchange values, underscoring the impact of rupee-dollar parity on bullion pricing.
