WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, all owned by Meta, experienced a major outage, affecting users globally, including in Pakistan. The disruption began around 10:58 PM, leaving users unable to access the platforms, according to ARY News.
According to a report by ARY News on Thursday, AccrUsers reported issues with WhatsApp, unable to send or receive messages, while Facebook users had trouble logging in and uploading posts. Instagram users faced difficulties accessing or updating content.
DownDetector showed a surge of user complaints, though Meta has yet to comment on the outage. Given the importance of Meta’s services for communication and social media, the disruption is expected to be resolved within hours.
For updates, users can check Meta’s official Support page or visit the Downdetector website, which tracks service interruptions in real-time. As of now, the site has received nearly a thousand reports on this outage.
Additionally, in March 2024, Meta’s Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram experienced another global outage, leaving thousands unable to access the platforms.
The issue, which began around 7:45 AM PST, affected both the apps and websites, causing password rejections and forced logouts, with error messages indicating expired logins. DownDetector has registered over 300,000 reports, with social media platforms like Twitter also seeing an influx of outage-related posts.
