KARACHI: A girl was reportedly kidnapped in the Defence Housing Authority area of Karachi by armed men who also shot and critically injured her male friend.
The incident took place at Bukhari Commercial within the limits of Darakhshan police station in early hours of Sunday.
The victim was later identified as Dua Mangi, while Haris, wounded in the incident, has been shifted to a private hospital in serious condition.
Senior police officials, including district south operations and investigations officers, reached the crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
District South SSP said that the police have only one witness in this case, and that they are trying to obtain the CCTV footage to trace and arrest the kidnappers.
He said the boy was shot in the neck which penetrated into his chest. The police were also looking to record the statements of the families and friends.
The police officer confirmed that the boy was wounded by gunshots fired by the culprits who abducted the girl. He said that it does not seems an kidnapping-for-ransom case.
Police officials said Haris confirmed in his initial statement the some unknown men came in a car kidnapped his friend after firing a bullet at him.
The injured person told police that they were on their way to Bukhari when four men in a car abducted his friend, and fled after shooting him.
The case has been registered by the father of the man who was wounded under the charges of abduction and attempt to murder.
The father of the injured boy revealed that his son had gone out with his friends and had informed his parents about his condition over the phone after been shot.
