ISLAMABAD: As the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won the 18 seats in Senate elections 2021 after suffering a major setback in Islamabad, the Opposition alliance-backed candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani pulled off a surprise win on National Assembly seat.
According to unofficial and unverified results, Gilani won 169 votes, while Shaikh bagged 164 votes. On the woman seat from Islamabad, PTI’s Fauzia Arshad secured 174 votes, while opposition alliance candidate Farzana Kausar got 164 votes.
In the Sindh Assembly, 167 out of 168 members cast their votes as Jamaat-e-Islami member Abdul Rashid did not cast his vote. PTI’s Faisal Vawda and Saifullah Abro secured wins from Sindh Assembly. PPP won a total of seven senate seats, while MQM-P also managed to get two Senate seats.
Shibli Faraz has also won the general seat of Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On women’s seats, Sania Nishtar and Falak Naz of PTI won both their women seats of Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to unofficial results, in Balochistan, Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Sarfraz Bugti and Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai, Umer Farooq of Awami National Party, Muhammad Abdul Qadir Independent on General Seats have been declared the winner.
ANP’s Arbab Muhammad Umar Farooq, BAP’s Ahmed Kakar, Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti and Price Ahmed Umar Ahmed were the candidates supported by the government on general seat.
