Ghee prices have been jacked up in Pakistan by Rs. 6 per kg ahead of Ramadan 2025.
As per details, the price of first and second-grade ghee has increased by Rs 6 per kg in retail and wholesale markets of different cities.
The price of first-grade ghee in the wholesale market has reached Rs 595 per kg, while the price of second-grade ghee is between Rs 540 and Rs 550.
Tahir Saqlain Butt, President of the Grocery Merchants Association, told the media that companies will first increase prices and later announce a reduction in them during Ramadan only to deceive people.
He urged the administration to keep a close watch on ghee manufacturing companies. He pointed out that despite soybeans and palm oil being cheaper in the global market, ghee prices are increasing in the local market.
It should be noted that every year the government announces price control during Ramadan, but due to the lack of effective action by the government, profiteers sell things at arbitrary prices.
