A gas crisis has emerged in Karachi, resulting in the suspension of gas supply across large parts of the city.
According to media reports, residents and commercial consumers in various neighbourhoods are facing serious difficulties due to low gas pressure and complete supply shutdowns.
The sudden shortfall has been attributed to the closure of two gas fields, including Jhal Magsi, leading to a deficit of approximately 45 MMCFD of gas.
Gas supply has been disrupted in Scheme 33, Malir, Saudabad and North Karachi, while industrial zones are also experiencing a significant shortage.
Several residential areas, including PIA Colony, Nazimabad, Shadman Town, Sir Syed Town and Kathore, have also been affected.
In addition, gas shortages have been reported in Garden, Bohra Pir, Akhtar Colony, Manzoor Colony, Chanesar Goth, Gadap, Orangi Town, Liaquatabad, and surrounding localities.
The situation has caused widespread inconvenience, particularly for households and businesses reliant on uninterrupted gas supply.
