LAHORE: In yet another significant operation, the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) is reported to have killed at least four terrorists during an alleged encounter in the Dera Ghazi Khan district on Sunday.
The operation comes after a period of heightened tension in the region, following a notable attack on January 9, when militants destructively targeted a government school.
According to information available with MM News, the Punjab CTD executed the operation near Jotar village based on an intelligence report indicating the imminent presence of Fitna al-Khawarij 15 terrorists. These militants were allegedly plotting attacks on police and other institutions in the area.
The spokesperson for CTD stated that during the operation, as officials approached, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a return of fire from CTD personnel. This exchange of gunfire resulted in the deaths of four militants, while eleven others managed to flee the scene.
In addition to neutralizing the threat, the CTD recovered an array of weapons including rifles, bullets, and explosive materials from the slain militants. The identification of the deceased terrorists is currently underway, and a search operation has been initiated to apprehend those who escaped.
The CTD spokesperson conveyed the department’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment across Punjab, stating, “We are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.” Citizens are encouraged to report any information related to terrorism directly to the CTD to assist in ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
