Former Australian Test cricketer Stuart MacGill was convicted in a Sydney court on Thursday for his involvement in cocaine supply.
The 54-year-old was acquitted of a more severe charge of participating in commercial-scale drug distribution after the jury deliberated for over six hours.
According to police, MacGill introduced his personal cocaine dealer to an associate in 2021. The two then allegedly arranged a $200,000 drug deal independently of MacGill.
While he did not partake in the transaction itself, the jury found him guilty of knowingly contributing to the supply of a prohibited substance, as confirmed by Sydney district court records.

Sentencing for MacGill is scheduled for May. During his cricketing career, which spanned from 1998 to 2008, MacGill played 44 Tests for Australia. His tenure coincided with that of Shane Warne, regarded as one of the greatest spin bowlers in cricket history.
