Fly Jinnah, Pakistan’s only low-cost airline, has received approval from Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAB) to operate direct flights between Karachi and Dhaka.
This is a significant milestone in enhancing air connectivity between the two countries.
This was after Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Mohammad Iqbal Hussain, announced last week that direct flights between Pakistan and Bangladesh would start soon. In addition, cargo flights connecting Dhaka, Karachi, and Lahore are also to be initiated to facilitate trade and business exchanges.
Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan said the request was approved.
“They applied to us, and we have approved it,” he added, and then said, “Now Fly Jinnah will have to appoint a GSA before it will finalize schedules and frequencies for the flights”.
Reports also indicate that the new air link will be established in tandem with the launch of a direct shipping route between Chittagong and Karachi, which is expected to further strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
