Qatar has declared five public holidays nationwide in observance of Eidul Adha 2025.
Eidul Adha, one of the two major Islamic festivals alongside Eid al-Fitr, is observed on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah—the final month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The celebrations traditionally extend over four days, including the three subsequent Tashreeq days.
This year, the holidays in Qatar will commence on the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah, known as the Day of Arafah, and continue through the 13th of the month. According to the lunar calendar, the Day of Arafah is expected to fall on Thursday, June 5, 2025, with Eidul Adha anticipated the following day, Friday, June 6. However, the exact dates will be confirmed following the moon sighting on May 27.
If the moon is sighted on May 27, the month of Dhu al-Hijjah will begin on May 28; if not, it will commence on May 29.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the public holidays will similarly begin on the Day of Arafah, followed by three days of Eid from June 6 to June 8. As with Qatar, the official dates in the UAE remain subject to the sighting of the moon.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Eidul Adha is likely to be observed on Saturday, June 7, based on astronomical forecasts suggesting that the moon will not be visible on May 27.
