LAHORE: Five Blind Indus Dolphin Baby Bees were rescued at Tunsa Barrage and a poacher involved in poaching was arrested.
According to the details, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that important operations are underway to protect the Indus Blind Dolphin, 5 Blind Indus Dolphin Baby Bees were rescued at the Tunsa Barrage.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the hunter involved in the illegal hunting of dolphins has been arrested and the net and equipment have been seized.
The senior provincial minister said that dolphin monitoring at the Tonsa barrage has been tightened as the water level has receded and teams of the Department of Wildlife and WWF are deployed at the Tonsa barrage. Till the water level rises, special teams will not be present at Tonsa Barrage, these dolphins are our national heritage.
The Indus dolphin is considered one of the rarest fish in Pakistan, but these dolphins are rapidly dying due to hunting and the mixing of agricultural medicines in the water.
According to the report, the use of fertilizers and agricultural medicines for agriculture in the Kachha area adds toxic chemicals to the Indus River, which makes the water poisonous and causes the death of dolphins.
