A driver and six students were critically injured when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on a school van in Battagram, a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Ayaz Khan said the incident appeared to be the result of an old enmity with the driver.
The school van was coming from the Peer Pahari area of Battagram. One girl and five boys received bullet wounds.
Soon after receiving the report of the incident, local police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).
Earlier, in April 2025, five people, including two brothers, were shot dead and four were injured during a gunfight between two groups over a land dispute in the district.
In August last year, two girls were killed while five children and a man were injured when unknown men opened fire at a school van in the Attock District of Punjab province.
