A fire broke out in the basement of Lakhani Furniture Market near Garden’s Anklesaria Hospital on Tuesday, raising fears of heavy financial losses. Rescue officials said eight fire brigade vehicles were deployed to control the blaze.
According to details, the incident occurred in the basement of a market located near Anklesaria Hospital in the Garden area. Firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the fire and launched an operation to extinguish the flames.
Authorities said the cause of the fire could not immediately be determined. Thick smoke filled the basement, causing breathing difficulties for two individuals, who were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 and fire brigade officials sought urgent assistance from the Water Corporation to ensure an uninterrupted water supply during the operation.
A spokesperson for the Water Corporation said that, on the instructions of CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, an emergency was declared at the NIPA Hydrant. Water tankers were dispatched to the site without delay to assist rescue efforts.
The spokesperson further said that the Hydrants Cell In-charge remained in constant contact with fire brigade and rescue authorities, while the CEO’s focal person personally supervised hydrant cell operations.
