Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Firdous Ashiq Awan allegedly abused and mistreated her domestic maid and household staff.
A video has recently surfaced which shows the former federal minister appearing furious and verbally abusing a woman and a man who are reportedly her household staff.
In the video, Firdous Ashiq Awan also admits to torturing the maid. Awan was heard saying in the clip that she “slapped” the woman and threatened to call the police.
Firdous Ashiq Awan has rubbished the claims about mistreating domestic staff members, saying the matter isn’t as simple as being portrayed.
Speaking to a private channel, Awan rejected the claims about the video, saying she “neither tortured nor mistreated anyone”.
The minister claimed that it is an old video that involved a matter of “theft” instead of “abuse” and has nothing to do with reality.
She added that a baseless controversy was being set up against her. “This is an old video at the house of someone else who called me for mediation over an issue of theft,” she said.
Awan said that people bashing her should prove that the woman seen in the video was her house maid. “Bring the one forward who I tortured or mistreated.”
She said a “criminal gang” works at people’s houses and blackmail by some means in case of being caught. She claimed that the video has been made viral to blackmail her.
The minister said that she will file a complaint with the cybercrime cell against uploaded this video on social media.
