ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has announced twenty-two national awards worth 250 million rupees for top artists of the country.
He made the announcement at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Pakistan Arts Council in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
The Information Minister said the government is making every possible effort to revive the film, music and drama industry of the county.
The Minister said new film policy has been finalized and NOC procedures are being simplified to utilize the country’s scenic locations for international productions.

He said taxes are being levied on foreign dramas and advertisements casting foreign artists to curtail this trend.
Fawad said a PTV film division has been established to use the medium of films for promoting our narrative through culture.
He said multimillion projects on the lives of Allama Iqbal, Zaheer ud Din Babar and Tipu Sultan are being produced in collaboration with Uzbekistan and Iran.
