The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has conducted an inquiry against the Chief of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Shahid Haider, on allegations of the illegal reinstatement of two officers on Wednesday.
According to a report by Dawn News, the Chief of LESCO has been questioned regarding the reinstatement of officers who were facing various allegations related to corruption, misappropriation, and malpractices within LESCO.
The report states that the FIA’s anti-corruption wing questioned the LESCO Chief for four hours about issues concerning the two officers, namely Usman Ghani and Salman Samoel, who were previously dismissed on corruption charges.
Dawn News, citing sources, reported that Mr. Shahid Haider submitted his statement to the FIA, offering different justifications for his actions, while the FIA accelerated the proceedings against the current Chief of the company.
Both Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) and Karachi Electric (KE) have faced significant customer dissatisfaction due to repeated incidents of over-billing and corruption. Customers of LESCO in Lahore have long complained about receiving inflated bills, which have led to mounting frustrations.
Many customers argue that the company’s billing system lacks transparency, making it difficult to challenge the charges. Despite various attempts to address these concerns, there have been no substantial improvements, leaving customers feeling helpless and exploited.
