ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) has great potential for growth in tourism and the federal government is committed to complete all development projects tourism in the region on a priority basis.
During a meeting with Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khurshid Khan, the prime minister said that the GB was the most suitable region for investment in Pakistan as it offered a very peaceful environment.

PM Imran said the federal government would extend full cooperation to the national and international investors in the region, adding that though the region had no issue of law and order, however, the investors would be given full security.
“The Northern areas of Pakistan and especially Gilgit-Baltistan are the most beautiful and suitable areas in the world in terms of tourism which are rich in natural beauty and can be fully utilized by providing modern facilities,” the prime minister added.

He stated that the government would facilitate the people in order to promote tourism by providing cheap loans so that the locals are able to build hotels and guest houses.
PM Imran added that Rs1 million will be allocated under the health cards for availing medical treatment at any hospital. He said that the government will also introduce the Ehsaas poverty alleviation program in the region.
The Chief Minister also apprised the Prime Minister about the skiing competitions to be organized by the Gilgit-Baltistan government in February. They also discussed the steps taken to take full advantage of the mineral deposits in Gilgit and development plans for the local people.
The CM appreciated the efforts of the federal government for showing a special interest in the development and prosperity of Gilgit-Baltistan.
