The federal government has announced a major relief for Christian federal government employees and pensioners on the occasion of Christmas.
According to the decision, salaries and pensions for December will be paid in advance to Christian employees and pensioners, with disbursements scheduled for December 22.
In this regard, the Ministry of Finance has formally issued a directive to the Controller General of Accounts (CGA). The notification instructs that, in view of Christmas on December 25, all federal government employees and pensioners belonging to the Christian community should be paid their salaries and pensions before the due date.
The Ministry of Finance stated that the initiative aims to facilitate the Christian community in celebrating Christmas by ensuring timely access to financial resources for their religious festivities.
Officials added that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to interfaith harmony and the protection of minority rights.
The move has been welcomed by the Christian community, with government employees and pensioners expressing appreciation for the advance payments, saying it will ease financial pressure and help them make timely arrangements for Christmas celebrations.
