Karachi: A potential shortage of petroleum products has emerged in Sindh and Punjab due to ongoing protests and road blockades against the federal government’s controversial canal project.
According to the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), the delivery of petroleum products is being severely disrupted in several areas of Sindh, particularly due to sit-ins and blocked transport routes in Larkana and Sukkur.
The OCAC revealed that 800 oil tankers are currently stranded in these regions, raising serious concerns over supply chain disruptions that could soon impact fuel availability in both interior Sindh and parts of Punjab.
In a formal letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Sindh, the OCAC has urged authorities to take immediate action and intervene to restore safe and uninterrupted fuel transportation, warning that the situation, if left unresolved, could lead to a full-blown fuel crisis in key areas of the country.
