LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) now-former senior leader Farrukh Habib on Monday decided to part ways with Imran Khan’s party.
Habib, who was one of the pioneer members of PTI’s student organisation, announced the development during a press conference at the Jahangir Tareen-led Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party’s (IPP) head office in Lahore alongside the party’s top leadership.
Habib said Imran Khan and his close loyalists orchestrated the May 9 violence under an organized vile campaign, and attacks on military installations were ordered directly by the party chairman.
He alleged that the PTI chief used the human shield to avoid his arrest in Lahore and himself issued instructions for attacking civil, and military installations.
Weeks after his disappearance, Farrukh appeared in a press conference with IPP leader and announced jumping ship.
He dodged several arrests attempts but was held since the crackdown intensified significantly post-9 May 2023.
