Faisal Vawda brings military boot to TV talk show

ISLAMABAD: In a rather bizarre move, federal minister for water resources Faisal Vawda brought a military boot to a live TV talk show.
When asked if Nawaz Sharif was genuinely sick, the PTI leader said that the PML-N leader had reached a new low and lost his self-esteem and respect, and just to protect his own corruption he has pandered to the military establishment.
“This is the PML-N of today and its democracy. It has given respect to the boot,” he quipped. He added that PML-N brought a narrative against the military but then fled abroad to protect their corrupt practices.
He said Maryam Nawaz should now give the statement that when required, they will give ‘respect to the boot.’ He added that Maryam’s silence on Twitter shows she is part of this deal to get reprieve.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qammar-uz-Zaman became irked by the comments and said he would not tolerate foul language on a TV programme. He said that Vawda’s statements suggest the military has pressured the political party to show support for military bills and interferes in political matters.
He said the PPP is not opposed to national institutions and has supports them, but there should a parliamentary procedure to follow. He said they withdrew their recommendations for amendments to the Army Act after the PML-N refused to vote for it.
Eventually, PML-N’s Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Kaira left the show after not being given an opportunity to speak and engaging in war of words with the PTI leader for his provocative statements.
