The social networking site Facebook has shut down the account of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
According to the news agency, Facebook has also blocked the account of Dr. Fazel, the chief officer of Ashraf Ghani. It may be recalled that Ashraf Ghani had released his statement on Facebook from an unknown location after fleeing the country.
Ashraf Ghani stated that he had left Afghanistan to stop the bloody floods. “If I had stayed in the country, countless patriotic citizens would have been martyred and Kabul would have been destroyed. Which would have caused a great human catastrophe,” he was quoted as saying.

Facebook has previously banned all of its platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp, from content related to the Afghan Taliban and their support. “The Taliban is a terrorist organization under US law and we have stopped providing services to the Taliban in light of US policy on dangerous organizations,” Facebook said in a statement.
As per Facebook, a team of Afghan experts has been formed to monitor and remove content linked to the group. The social networking site has also formed a team of Afghan Dari and Pashto-speaking experts to help identify and raise issues on the platform. A Facebook spokesman told the BBC: “We have blocked all accounts created by or in support of the Taliban and banned all platforms from praising, supporting, and representing the Taliban.”
