Following the controversial remarks of Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah, Hindu extremists on Wednesday reportedly attacked the residence of Colonel Sofia Qureshi, ransacked it, and tortured her family members.
Colonel Sofia Qureshi is a Muslim and spokesperson of the Indian armed forces. She conducted regular press briefings, along with wing commander Vyomika Singh and foreign secretary Vikram Misri, sharing details of the ‘Operation Sindoor’ launched by the Indian armed forces against Pakistan.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Shah had sparked a huge controversy with objectionable comments against Qureshi. In his statement, he called her a sister of terrorists.
However, the opposition was quick to take note of his remarks and demanded Vijay Shah’s immediate removal from Madhya Pradesh’s cabinet.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said Shah, who made ‘derogatory’ remarks in reference to Colonel Sofia Qureshi, should be dismissed immediately.
Now, there are reports on social media that some RSS activists ransacked the home of Sofia Qureshi and attacked her family in Gokak in Belagavi district.
