In a tragic incident in interior Sindh, an engineer, Hidyatullah Lashari, was shot dead on the pretext of Karo Kari — a practice commonly associated with so-called honour killings. The killing took place in Kandhkot, drawing fresh attention to the ongoing issue of gender-based and honour-related violence in the region.
As per media reports on Sunday, unidentified armed assailants opened fire on the victim, resulting in his immediate death.
Police sources confirmed that the deadly attack occurred in Madrassah Mohallah, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kandhkot Police Station.
Witnesses reported that after firing multiple shots, the attackers managed to escape the scene while engaging in aerial firing to deter any pursuit.
Local police arrived at the crime scene shortly after the incident. The body of the deceased was moved to a nearby hospital for autopsy as part of the standard legal procedure.
Law enforcement officials have stated that an investigation is ongoing and various angles are being explored to determine the full circumstances behind the killing.
