ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has extended the date for submission of nomination papers.
Today was the last day to submit nomination papers to participate in the general elections 2024, the Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the date of submission of papers.
According to the details, the Election Commission of Pakistan extended the date for submission of nomination papers on the demand of various political parties, while dozens of political leaders of major political parties demanded to extension of the date.
The Election Commission of Pakistan says that the date of submission of nomination papers has been extended by 2 days. Candidates can submit nomination papers for general elections till 24th December. Papers will be scrutinized from 25th to 30th December.
Earlier, the former finance minister wrote a letter to the Election Commission. Ishaq Dar said that time is needed to complete the documents before submitting the nomination papers, while the Election Commission can modify the schedule without changing the polling date.
Ishaq Dar had sought an extension of two days on the date of submission of the papers. Apart from Muslim League (N), 5 political parties including JUI (F), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan), Balochistan Awami Party and Satwat-e-Pakistan Party have demanded extension of the date.
It should be remembered that earlier the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the elections on February 8 and released the election schedule according to which the candidates were allowed to submit their nomination papers from December 20 to 22.
