The ECP on Wednesday issued a lengthy statement, withdrawing the election programme […] saying it would issue fresh schedule in due course of time with poll date on October 8.
The move drew criticism from PTI, lawyers community as well as members of civil society, with PTI Chairman Imran Khan terming the move as ‘violation of Constitution’.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, Dr Shireen Mazari said “No surprise ECP arbitrarily postponing elections! They have behaved as tools to keep Conspirators in power. From the time SC decision came on elections for KP & Punjab, ECP instead of doing its constitutionally-mandated job of preparing to hold elections, sought excuses to delay.”

She further said “ECP has desperately sought to target Imran Khan and PTI leadership by hurling all manner of questionable allegations and cases. The bias has been so clear on prohibited funding case, toshakhana case, contempt cases etc. How can it be contempt to criticise ECP esp its decisions? Law of jungle!”
