A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck multiple districts of Balochistan and Sindh late Friday morning, triggering panic as residents rushed out of homes and workplaces into open areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the tremors were felt in two distinct waves across a wide region.
Seismic details
Magnitude: 5.6

Areas affected
The earthquake crossed provincial boundaries and was felt across several districts:
Balochistan: Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Gandawah, Sibi, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi and surrounding areas
Sindh: Sukkur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Mehar and nearby localities
Witnesses reported people reciting prayers and gathering in open spaces due to fear, especially because the tremors occurred twice within about 40 minutes.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid damaged structures until safety checks are completed.
