Drug smuggling cases: Court sentences four to 8-year imprisonment
RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Narcotics Court in Rawalpindi slapped four accused named in four separate drug cases with a prison sentence of 8 years and a fine of Rs 95,000.
According to details, Judge Sohail Nasir headed the bench hearing the four separate drug smuggling case. In the first case, Suleiman Khan, arrested on April 12, 2019, for smuggling two kilograms of hashish to Saudi Arabia was sentenced to two years and 11 months imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000.
In the second case, the court sentenced Asim Shah to two years and 11 months imprisonment and fined Rs 25,000. The accused was arrested on June 23 last year for smuggling 2.95 kilograms of cannabis to Saudi Arabia.
In the third case, the court sentenced accused Rahat Sher to one year and one-month imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000.
In the fourth case, the court sentenced accused Muhammad Asif to two years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000 in the case of smuggling 2.40 kilograms of cannabis. However, the co-accused in the same case, Taus Khan, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
