Minister Memon shared the exciting development via his social media channels, stating that the iconic double-decker buses, which he had previously announced would arrive in the city, have reached the port and will soon be deployed for the people of Karachi.
The buses are part of the Sindh government’s ongoing efforts to modernize urban mobility and expand the People’s Bus Service (PBS) network.
The double-decker vehicles are expected to add a scenic and high-capacity option to the city’s bus routes.
Minister Memon expressed optimism about the quick launch
“Double-decker buses for #Karachi reached the port. Inshallah Soon these buses will be on roads for the people of Karachi by the transport department government of Sindh.”
The new buses are anticipated to be used on key routes, potentially including both regular commuter lines and specific routes aimed at boosting local tourism within the city.
The arrival of the double-deckers is part of a multi-faceted push by the Transport Department, which also includes the recent expansion of electric bus routes and the launch of the Pink Scooties scheme for women’s independent mobility.
While the exact launch date and designated routes for the double-deckers will be announced shortly, transport officials are currently finalizing the operational preparations, driver training, and depot facilities to ensure the new fleet can be efficiently integrated into the city’s busy road network.
The initiative aims to provide Karachiites with more comfortable, affordable, and high-capacity travel options as the government continues to push for improvements in the city’s long-neglected public transport infrastructure.
