Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has questioned the necessity of striking a deal with the government, given that he has already spent almost a year and a half in prison, according to his sister Aleema Khan.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail on Monday, Aleema shared that her brother had stated his cases had been concluded and that he was not negotiating any deal with the government regarding these matters.
Aleema, who has recently become more involved in the party’s political activities, emphasized that Khan is determined to fight his legal battles and would not accept any offer to be placed under house arrest in Bani Gala.
She also said that Khan questioned why cases against leaders who had left the party were forgiven, adding that he believes the May 9 conspiracy was designed to crush PTI.
Aleema also reiterated her brother’s calls for a judicial investigation into the May 9 riots, the late-night crackdown on November 26, and the release of “political prisoners.”
In response, PTI Senator Shibli Faraz rejected the “false perception” that Khan was seeking personal relief through negotiations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition government.
The 71-year-old politician has been incarcerated since August of the previous year after being sentenced in the Toshakhana case-I, one of numerous cases filed against him following his ousting from office in April 2022.
