Hamas’s stance on ending the war with Israel is complex and multifaceted. Hamas has consistently stated its goal of liberating Palestine from Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state.
While Hamas has shown a willingness to negotiate temporary ceasefires and truces, its ultimate objective remains unresolved.
Efforts by the United States and Arab mediators Qatar and Egypt have so far failed to arrange a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that would end the fighting and see the release of Israeli and foreign hostages in Gaza as well as Palestinians jailed by Israel.
A senior Hamas official called for an immediate end to Israel’s war against the group in the Gaza Strip and a plan to achieve Palestinian statehood in remarks shared with Newsweek in the wake of former President Donald Trump’s election victory.
“The election of Trump as the 47th president of the USA is a private matter for the Americans,” Hamas Political Bureau member and spokesperson Basem Naim told Newsweek, “but Palestinians look forward to an immediate cessation of the aggression against our people, especially in Gaza, and look for assistance in achieving their legitimate rights of freedom, independence, and the establishment of their independent self-sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Seems that Hamas is ready to end the ongoing war with Israel but only time will tell how the matter will e resolved as earlier rounds of a truce between both the parties have failed.
