Renowned Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has made a shocking revelation about a deeply disturbing and objectionable scene in her recently released project Kaafir.
Kaafir is actually a web series that was released in 2019, based on the real-life story of Shehnaz Parveen, a Pakistani woman who mistakenly crossed the Line of Control and entered India.
The woman from Azad Kashmir was accused by the Indian army of being a militant and was imprisoned for eight years, during which she also gave birth to a daughter while in jail.
Her story came to light through an Indian journalist, who raised the issue and fought a long legal battle that eventually led to her release.
In an interview with Indian media, Dia Mirza revealed that the rape scene in the series affected her so intensely — both emotionally and physically — that she began to tremble and even vomited.
She said, “When we shot the rape scene, the moment was so intense that I began to shiver uncontrollably. As soon as the camera stopped rolling, I started to throw up.”
The actress added that filming such scenes isn’t just about acting; it requires complete emotional immersion, which leaves a genuine impact on the performer.
Dia Mirza emphasized that the most important thing for any actor is empathy with the character — something she truly developed while portraying her role in Kaafir.
