To counter this negative portrayal, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced a new Sindhi-language film titled ‘Mera Lyari’ (My Lyari) by showcasing its true culture, peace, talent, and resilience.
The Sindh government has also announced the launch of the ‘Lyari Transformation Project’ to improve its basic infrastructure, including road construction and the replacement of water and sewage lines. However, locals have cited power outages and rising poverty as the most pressing issues.
To present an authentic and positive image of the Lyari area, which the Sindh government and local residents argue has been unfairly depicted as a violent war zone in the Indian film Dhurandhar.
