The widow of martyred Sindh police officer Chaudhry Aslam has strongly criticised the makers of the upcoming Indian film Dhurandhar, calling their portrayal of her late husband “offensive” and accusing the filmmakers of glorifying criminals.
In an exclusive interview with a private news channel, Noreen Aslam took umbrage at a dialogue included in the film’s trailer.
She warned that she would take legal action if the film misrepresents her husband.
She said, “We will know on December 5 how they show Chaudhry. But if they try to run propaganda against him, I will use my legal right.”
Who was Chaudhry Aslam?
Chaudhry Aslam Khan, often referred to as Karachi’s “super cop”, was one of Pakistan’s most prominent and fearless counterterrorism officers, known for leading high-profile operations against militant groups, gangsters, and criminal syndicates.
Chaudhry Aslam served in the Sindh Police, primarily within Karachi’s Crime Investigation Department (CID). Over a career spanning more than three decades, he became a symbol of the state’s fight against terrorism and organized crime.
He was widely known for, conducting bold, high-risk raids across Karachi. Targeting extremist groups including the TTP and various sectarian outfits. Breaking major kidnapping, extortion, and gang networks.
Aslam’s confrontational style made him a prime target. His home in Karachi’s Defense area was hit by a massive suicide bombing in 2011. He survived, but several people were killed. In the aftermath, he famously told the attackers:
Chaudhry Aslam was killed on January 9, 2014, when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into his convoy on the Lyari Expressway. The attack was claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
He died alongside two police officers, ending one of Pakistan’s most storied policing careers.
