Deepika Padukone, Riz Ahmed among presenters for 95th Academy Awards

The 95th Academy Awards’ initial lineup of presenters includes British actor Riz Ahmed and Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone, it was announced on Thursday.

The live ceremony will be hosted by late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel on March 12.

Riz Ahmed and Deepika Padukone will be joined by Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Troy Kotsur, Jennifer Connelly, Samuel L. Jackson, Melissa McCarthy, Zoe Saldana, Donnie Yen, Jonathan Majors and Questlove.

Padukone also posted the news on Instagram, with her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, and sister joining in to congratulate her.

Padukone has gained attention as a crossover performer after being selected as the first Bollywood celebrity to deliver the FIFA World Cup trophy during the final in Qatar.

She was the first Indian to be named a brand ambassador for the high-end French fashion business Louis Vuitton, and she later served as a brand ambassador for Cartier, a French manufacturer of fine jewelry. She has also been a member of the jury for the famous Cannes Film Festival.

Ahmed, also an Oscar winning actor, became the first person of Pakistani descent to announce the Academy Awards nominations from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater last month.
