The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has temporarily suspended the verification of Matric and Intermediate certificates across Pakistan following warnings of potential cyberattacks.
The move, taken on the advisory of the Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT), has also halted online services for O and A Level equivalence and verification, leaving thousands of students in Pakistan and abroad facing delays in processing their academic documents.
Students across Pakistan, including those in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Islamabad, are facing difficulties as thousands are unable to get their Matric and Intermediate certificates verified or obtain equivalence for O and A Level qualifications. Verification and equivalence services for applicants from overseas have also been suspended.
Reports, citing IBCC sources, said that only individuals who had already registered their cases on the portal will be able to view their applications. No new cases are currently being registered on the IBCC portal.
The CERT advisory was issued last week in response to potential cyber threats targeting several television channels and government websites.
Meanwhile, IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah said the IBCC portal is being restored for users within Pakistan, while access for overseas users will remain in “read-only mode” for the time being. He added that manual verification and equivalence services had already been discontinued and cannot be reinstated.
