Police arrests customs employees for selling liquor bottles

KARACHI: Police have arrested two employees of the Customs department for selling the liquor bottles which were seized by their department. 

Sindh police have arrested two employees of Pakistan Customs Authority on Friday morning. They are accused of bootlegging, police have claimed to recover 83 imported alcohol bottles from their custody. 

Two named individuals are Younus and Khalid, they were part of an organized bootlegging wing, and operating with six other people. Yunus and Khalid were the employees of Pakistan Customs Authority.

Shershah Police on Friday arrested the duo, who were part of an organized wing. Younus, the arrested suspect, used to drive the rickshaw for transporting alcoholic beverages to his clients. Whereas, Khalid used to broker the deals between Younus and the customers.

The two arrested suspects confessed to the police that they along with their six other accomplices were involved in selling liquor bottles worth millions in Karachi’s Clifton and Defence areas for the last seven years.

SSP West, Shaukat Khatian said that Younus worked as a watchman in the customs storage house, while Khalid was also an employee of Pakistan Customs.

He added that police is raiding the identified locations to apprehend six accomplices, namely Momin Khan, Sher Wali, Ghulam, Habib, Sohail, and Faisal. 

As per SSP West, Shaukat Khatian, all the alleged accomplices are the employees of Pakistan Customs.
