Gwadar: Pak-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) has achieved another great success as power generation under Karot Hydropower Project will start from today. The project will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the details, the process of checking the project was completed before the announcement of power generation in Karot Hydropower Project. The 720 MW Power Project successfully completed a 168-hour test run.
From today, the commercial operation is being launched in Karot Hydropower Project under CPEC project. The project cost has been completed with the cost of 72 1.72 billion.

The Karot Hydropower project, located at a distance of about 76 Km from Islamabad have total Installed capacity of Karot HPP is 720 MW with an annual electricity generation of 3,206 Gwh. The project is equipped with four state of art Francis turbines and will fulfill the needs of five million consumers throughout Pakistan.
Since the groundbreaking of the project in April, 2016, the Chinese and Pakistani engineers and workers at the project have jointly overcome different challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic.
