ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) chief Asad Umar today (Tuesday) has announced that over 1 million Pakistanis have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus so far.
Taking to Twitter, the Planning Minister said, “Total vaccinations carried out so far crossed 1 million. More than 76 thousand vaccinations were carried out yesterday.”
“Total number of people registered so far is now over 2 million, including 600k health care workers and more than 1.4 million people above age 50 plus,” he added. Umar also urged the people above age 50 to register themselves for vaccination.

In another tweet, Asad Umar asserted that increased coronavirus restrictions, broader lockdowns and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) started to have an effect as COVID-19 positivity rate reduced to 8.7 percent.

The NCOC chief wrote, “However, due to momentum of last 2 weeks, patients on critical care and mortality will stay at high levels for some time.”
Pakistan reported another 3,953 coronavirus infections while almost 103 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases recorded in the country ever since the pandemic began has crossed reached 696184, while the positivity rate stood at 8.47 percent.
