ISLAMABAD: Lockdown is likely to be imposed in view of increasing cases of coronavirus.
A meeting of inter-provincial education ministers will be held today to discuss the partial or complete closure of other educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities. According to the details, due to the spread of the new type of Coronavirus Omicron across the country, smart lockdown is feared to be implemented. Important decisions are expected in the meeting of inter-provincial education ministers chaired by the Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood.
Education and training are being conducted with the implementation of SOPS for the prevention of coronavirus across the country. However, in view of the increasing number of virus cases, the situation of educational institutions will be reviewed. Education ministers from all provinces will attend the meeting.
The inter-provincial education ministers’ meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, will also discuss the timely availability and delivery of textbooks across the country. It should be noted that the federal government is trying to introduce a uniform curriculum across the country.
It may be recalled that earlier, in view of the spread of Omicron in Qatar, it was decided to adopt a distance education system by closing all educational institutions for one week from January 2. The closure of educational institutions in other countries including Pakistan is also under consideration.
Attendance at all public and private schools in Qatar has been suspended since Sunday. The move came after an increase in Omicron cases in the country, the education ministry said that the closure was decided to prevent a new type of corona.
