A local court has approved the exhumation of trader Mir Raza’s body after his father challenged the police investigation into the alleged murder, ordering the relevant authorities to carry out the process.
Mir Hussain had petitioned the court, rejecting the police’s handling of the case and arguing that the investigation was inadequate. The court accepted the request and directed the concerned officials to take the necessary steps for the exhumation.
According to the details, the deceased Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, spoke to the media at the City Court and said, “From the police report, we can tell what kind of investigation is being conducted. At times they talk about financial issues, and at other times they present different theories. If my son was in debt, then the entire country is also in debt.”
He alleged that the police have yet to formally acknowledge the incident as a murder and have not even recorded his statement.
He added, “The police tell us one thing in person, but present a completely different position to the media.”
Mir Hussain also questioned the post-mortem examination and the investigation process, saying, “Just by looking at the report issued by the police, one can see the nature of the investigation being carried out.”
He further said, “We are saying it was a murder, but the investigation is heading in a different direction. Why has the doctor who conducted the post-mortem disappeared? It pains us that the grave is being exhumed again.
The police have still not recorded our statement. They tell us one thing privately and something else publicly. We only received the police report after the news appeared in the media and we demanded it.”
It is worth noting that Mir Raza’s father filed a petition in the City Court seeking the exhumation of his son’s body. The Judicial Magistrate had reserved the verdict on the petition. The petition argued that the police investigation into Mir Raza’s murder case had been inadequate. The prosecution did not raise any objection to the request.
Judicial Magistrate East announced the reserved decision, directing the Health Secretary to constitute a medical board and carry out the exhumation.
The court further ordered that its directive be implemented as quickly as possible. It is expected that Mir Raza’s body will be exhumed once the written judgment is officially issued.
