KARACHI: Shaniera Akram, the wife of former captain Wasim Akram has urged the building owners to lower rent for their tenants due to the coronavirus outbreak.
She took to Twitter, describing the recent shutdowns of cafes, restaurants, shops, gyms, schools and play areas due to the coronavirus’ emerging cases in Pakistan.
With the recent shut downs of cafes, restaurants, shops, gyms, schools and play areas due to #CoronaVirusPakistan, building owners should show some rent leniency towards their tenants during this time of hardship so that our small businesses don’t close down for good.

Her tweet came after the announcement of the Sindh government of shutting down all the restaurants, shopping malls, public parks, and Karachi’s Seaview will remain closed from tomorrow for the next fifteen days all over Sindh.
However, the grocery, milk, fish, chicken and meat and vegetable shops would remain open. Chemists, pharmacies and even utility stores will remain open, while take-aways and delivering from eateries would be allowed. The number of coronavirus patients in Sindh has swelled to 172.
