ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the National Coordination Committee today (Monday) in Islamabad to review the measures taken by the government to halt the spread of coronavirus.
According to the provided details by PM office, the summoned meeting would also discuss the strategies to ensure continuity of the industrial and economic activities.
The NCC would likely decide to provide more relief to the deserving people, who are facing difficulties due to lockdown amid coronavirus.
The committee would also discuss stern measures to effectively deal with pandemic and its impact on Pakistan. Measures for the implementation of the relief package will also be reviewed.
The meeting would also review the proposal of the ten-day extension of the lockdown by the Punjab government. The demand of the Sindh government to further tighten the lockdown will also be discussed.
The NCC meeting would be attended by Chief Ministers of four provinces through video link. Prime Minister AJK, Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, federal ministers, high ranking military officials, and chairman NDMA will also attend the meeting.
Additionally, the second meeting of the Special Committee of the National Assembly on coronavirus will also be held today. Speaker Asad Qaiser will chair the meeting.
As per details, the meeting will review different reports about arrangements to bring back all Pakistanis stranded abroad, management of quarantine centers at Taftan Border and status of Afghan nationals in the country.
