The deaths in the United States due to coronavirus reached 14,795 today (Thursday), the second-highest reported number in the world, as New York reported 799 deaths in a day.
According to the provided details by US University, Italy has the most confirmed deaths in the world at 17,669 and Spain is in third place with 14,792.
New York, the epicenter of coronavirus in the United States, reported its highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in a single day.
The Governor informed that 779 people died in the past day in his state. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said 275 had died there. Both totals exceeded one-day records reported just a day earlier.
The number of coronavirus cases in New York state alone approached 150,000 on Wednesday.
In this regard, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “Every number is a face,” adding, “This virus attacked the vulnerable and the weak and it’s our job as a society to protect the vulnerable.”
However, the doctors and nurses denied New York’s Governor statement and said that it wasn’t just elderly or patients with underlying health conditions. It can happen for the young and healthy, too.
The governor also warned that the death count would continue at the current level or increase in the coming days as critically ill patients, who have been hospitalized for more than a week and on ventilator machines to assist in breathing, die.
