Another convoy heading towards Parachinar came under attack on Thursday, according to local authorities. This convoy, which was transporting goods for the people of Parachinar, was fired upon in the Lower Kurram area of Bagan.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Thursday, the convoy of 35 vehicles was forced to halt when unidentified assailants opened fire. The convoy later turned back after the attack. This marks the third such attack on convoys heading to Parachinar, with previous ones also targeted.
Earlier, on January 4, Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud was injured in a similar incident when unknown gunmen attacked a convoy of government vehicles. Three law enforcement personnel were also wounded in the attack. The deputy commissioner, who played a pivotal role in securing a peace agreement between warring tribes, was hospitalized and is reportedly in stable condition. Arrangements were being made to transfer him to Peshawar via helicopter.
This attack occurred just days after the first convoy, carrying essential supplies, departed for Parachinar following the reopening of roads after the peace agreement. The convoy, which includes food and essential goods, is being protected by a heavy security presence, including police forces, to prevent further incidents.
