Pakistan’s issues are numerous, so do the vaunted claims to resolve them. But when these claims fall short as they usually do, the masses go deeper in their abyss of disillusionment.
In this poor country, it goes like this; if you ask politicians’ opinion about a national issue, you find the politicians of one side tell stories from earth, the other side from moon, while the third side from Mars. As a result, the country suffers due to lack of understanding and agreement on national issues.
This is primarily due to the behavior of members of parliament on both side of the aisle as those who sit on the government benches in the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies and the Senate sing a mantra of ‘All’s good’, while the opposition feel compelled to opposes every government policy even if it’s beneficial for the country.
Until one party allies with another, there’s a world of difference between them on any given issue but as soon as their natural or unnatural alliance is born, bitter rivals become best buddies in no time.
For example, the people who were looters for Imran Khan, went on to become his allies. By the same token, People’s Party and PML-N, who have always dragged each other in the mud, have become close allies and formed the federal government.
Amidst all this political rivalries and alliances, poor people of this country have been paying the price as politician whether they are together or busy fighting, in both cases they have utterly failed to solve the problems of the country. Soaring inflation, dwindling foreign exchange reserves and People’s waning purchasing power in recent time are some of the proofs of this hapless situation.
It is obvious the politicians engaged in the power struggle spend less time on solving the country’s problems and more on building their own assets. Perhaps this is the primary reason why the rich are getting richer in this county while, the poor are getting poorer.
It is high time politicians, including members of parliament and ministers who have been sent by the masses to the power corridor to solve their issues, should make serious efforts to do their job. Or else, the language of creation might become God’s voice.
