RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said that Pakistan attaches great importance to furthering bilateral relations with Ukraine in all areas of cooperation.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement Gen Qamar expressed these views during a meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador to Pakistan Markian Chuchuk at General Headquarter (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
During the meeting matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral and defence cooperation came under discussion, the military’s media wing said.
The ISPR said that the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region, especially in the Afghan peace process.
Both sides reiterated the pledges for expanding bilateral engagements through structured forums and regular exchanges, particularly with respect to defence cooperation.
Earlier, Ukrainian Air Force Commander General Sergii Drozdov called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan at Air Headquarters in Islamabad.
According to a PAF spokesperson, matters of mutual interest, bilateral ties, professional cooperation, and other issues came under discussion in the meeting. The Ukrainian air chief lauded the readiness and professional expertise of PAF.
A smartly turned-out contingent of PAF presented a guard of honor to the visiting dignitary. He also laid a floral wreath on the martyrs’ monument.
