CM Sindh to kick off ‘Clean My Karachi’ drive from today

KARACHI: The Sindh government’s ‘Clean My Karachi’ drive headed by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah will kick off from today.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has decided to launch a massive drive in which over 600 dumpers, shovels, tractors, and 4000 workers would participate all over the city.
According to details, the deputy commissioners have been provided Rs50 million each along with it at temporary Garbage Transfer Stations (GTS) and then the same garbage would be transported to Landfill Sites of Godpas and Jam Chakro by Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority.
Through a 10-days exercise, the deputy commissioners have divided garbage lifting work on sub-division level where the provincial government has provided tractors, loaders, shovels, tractor trollies and other machinery to the deputy commissioners. 
Nasir Hussain Shah, the local body minister, talking to media on Friday in Karachi said that the capacity of solid waste management to lift the garbage has been increased adding that 12 to 13 thousand tons of dirt are being lifted on daily basis from the metropolis.
He said that the new cleanliness campaign of the provincial government would be launched on 21st September, under which garbage would be lifted significantly from the city in just one month.
The local government minister informed the media that efforts would be made to enhance the garbage disposal capacity of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), after which its capacity to lift garbage from the city would be increased from 5,000 tonnes to 16,000 tonnes on a daily basis.
